The final level of the European Framework, Advanced English C1 will take the student through the final phases of academic language learning. By this point in their journey the student will be able to understand and explain most texts, being able to summarise the information and arguments in a coherent manner. Their speech with be clear, precise and articulate, making them able to express themselves spontaneously and explaining abstract ideas and larger meanings even in the most complex situation. In short this level will help the student be able to understand nearly everything spoken and read to a very high degree of understanding.

The book we use is the ‘Cutting Edge’ Advanced level textbook, published by Longmans, which is graded under the European Framework.

Warm up
At this level, the warm up activity is student centred, with students taking the lead and direction of topic.
Presentation
This stage of the lesson usually introduces new grammar points or vocabulary using complex articles or reports.
Practise
Using reading, writing , listening, and speaking, students discuss, analyse, and evaluate sources using newly learned vocabulary and grammar points.
Production
The advanced production activity is student-led, with teacher instruction only, to encourage fluency and confidence in using the newly acquired grammar or vocabulary.
