The KSTVS Team
We are a team of dedicated, professional teachers and staff, always willing to go that extra mile
Dave Belcher
Born and raised in S.E England, Dave attended Bristol University Language Center in which he graduated with DELTA and CELTA qualifications, awarded by Cambridge University’s language department, helping him take his first steps into qualified language teaching. Dave spent his time in the UK working in various fields and soon moved out to Samui, Thailand in 2001. Since then he has been heavily involved in the Islands language industry, teaching every age and sector, from private one on one sessions with locals to mass corporate training. In class Dave skillfully uses his diverse background in the language industry to professionally and more importantly, successfully help his students improve their English.
While Dave works tirelessly, constantly trying to improve KSTVS he does get some time to himself and out of the classroom, in which he spends it enjoying tennis, mountain biking and Aikido.
Kamonchnok Saohin
Pat Saohin, originally from Ubon Ratchathani, the most eastern city in Thailand, moved to Phuket early in her life, where she went to Phuket Technology School, successfully receiving a diploma in a ‘D management course’. After living in Phuket for many years she decided it was time for a change, and so made her way to the other side of Thailand, finding herself in Samui back in 2000. During her time on Samui she decided to go back to school, and in turn enrolled in Bangkok University graduating with a degree in Education management.
In her free time, Pat likes to take advantage of the vicinity of the school to the beach and goes swimming or likes to get her adrenaline pumping by taking part in mountain biking.
Sarah Fawcett
Originally from York in England, Sarah graduated from the University of York with a degree in English Language and Linguistics. She left her home country and spent 10 years traveling around the world, teaching English and volunteering. Sarah first came to Thailand in 2008, where she completed her TEFL course and lived in Phuket for 1 year before continuing her travels. She returned to Thailand and settled in Samui in 2016.
Aside from her passion for teaching, Sarah enjoys the local delicacies, scuba diving, and exploring nearby islands.
Mike Shanai
Mike Shanai, our resident Canadian educated school principal, brings to the school not only his Master Degree in Linguistics from UPM University and his 2009 TESOL from Canadian College of Educators, but also his passion for teaching and sharing knowledge. Teaching English gives him the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people from all over the world, people which in class he likes to get to know on a personal basis, creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere to learn in, a valuable tool in the teaching trade. Mike came to Samui after spending some time traveling, and fell in love with the massively varying landscape, friendly people and quality of air.
Between imparting his knowledge with his students Mike likes to take advantage of the islands terrain, one day spent on the beach, swimming or playing volleyball, the other day might be spent hiking through the central islands jungle mountains.
